Perfect for robotics projects

This sensor is incredibly easy to integrate with Arduino. The I2C communication is stable, and the distance readings are consistent up to about 1.8 meters in normal indoor lighting. Great value for the price.

Solid performance within range limits

Just remember the 2-meter limit is under ideal conditions. In bright sunlight, the range drops significantly. However, for indoor automation, it performs flawlessly.

Reliable ToF solution

Great for learning embedded systems

Good accuracy, small footprint

The size is perfect for compact drones. It works well, though you need to be careful with ambient light interference if used outdoors. For indoor navigation, it's excellent.

Q: Does the package come with connecting wires?

A: The standard package includes the module and a strip of header pins for soldering. Connecting wires are not included but can be purchased separately in our accessories section.

Q: Is this compatible with 5V Arduino boards like the Uno?

A: Yes, but since the sensor operates at 3.3V, you should use a logic level converter or ensure your specific breakout board has an onboard regulator and level shifters. Many GY-530 modules include these features.

Q: What is the refresh rate of the distance measurements?

A: The VL53L0X can typically provide measurements at rates up to 50Hz depending on the timing budget configuration set in your code. Higher precision settings may reduce the update rate slightly.

Q: How do I handle multiple sensors on the same I2C bus?

A: The VL53L0X has a fixed I2C address by default. To use multiple sensors, you must use the XSHUT pin to reset them one by one and assign unique addresses via software initialization before normal operation.

Q: Can this sensor measure through glass?

A: Generally, no. Time-of-flight sensors using infrared light often struggle with transparent materials like glass, as the light passes through or reflects unpredictably. It is best used on opaque surfaces.
