Great for learning
Bought this for a university robotics course. It was easy to interface with Arduino. The only downside is that the wiring diagram could be clearer for beginners, but online forums helped.

Fast response time

Ideal for plant monitoring

Compact and reliable

Good accuracy, needs calibration
Out of the box, it was slightly off by about 1 degree, but after adjusting the emissivity settings for my specific surface material, it became very accurate. Great value for the price.
Q: What is the maximum distance for accurate measurement?
A: With a 12:1 distance-to-spot ratio, at a distance of 12 inches, the sensor measures a spot approximately 1 inch in diameter. Accuracy depends on ensuring the target object fully fills the spot size.
Q: Is there a Python library available for Raspberry Pi?
A: Yes, we provide a Python library compatible with Raspberry Pi OS. You can find the installation instructions and example scripts in the 'Resources' tab on our product page.
Q: Can I use this outdoors in the rain?
A: This module is not water-resistant or waterproof. If used outdoors, it must be housed in a protective enclosure with a window transparent to infrared radiation (like polyethylene).
Q: Can this sensor measure the temperature of liquids?
A: Yes, it can measure liquid temperatures provided the liquid has a stable surface and the emissivity is adjusted accordingly. Please note that steam or heavy vapor may interfere with accuracy.
Q: Does this come with a mounting bracket?
A: The module includes four standard mounting holes (2mm diameter) for screws, but a specific metal bracket is not included in the package. You can easily 3D print one or use standoffs.
