Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The module is sensitive and reacts quickly. You do need to adjust the potentiometer on the back to get the right threshold for your specific environment, but once set, it is reliable.

Works well indoors
Very effective inside the lab. Note that strong sunlight can interfere with the reading if used outdoors without shielding, which is expected for IR sensors.

Perfect for my fire safety robot project
This sensor works exactly as described. I connected it to my Arduino Uno and the detection range is impressive for a candle flame. The digital output makes coding very straightforward.

Easy to integrate
Plug and play with standard Arduino libraries. The pinout is clearly marked on the PCB. No issues with false positives in normal room lighting.

Fast response time
I tested this against a lighter and the reaction was instant. The build quality feels solid for the price point. Highly recommend for DIY automation tasks.
Q: Is there a library available for this specific sensor?
A: Since it outputs a simple digital signal, you do not need a specific library. You can read the pin state using standard digitalRead() functions in the Arduino IDE.
Q: What is the maximum voltage I can supply to the VCC pin?
A: The operating voltage range is 3.3V to 5V DC. Please do not exceed 5V as it may damage the comparator chip and the sensor.
Q: How do I adjust the detection sensitivity?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the back of the board. Turn it clockwise to increase sensitivity (detect flames from further away) and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
Q: Can this detect a cigarette ember or only open flames?
A: The sensor is optimized for flames emitting light in the 760nm-1100nm range. While it may detect a glowing ember if close enough, it is primarily designed for active flames.
Q: Does this module output analog or digital signals?
A: This module provides a digital switch output (LOW/HIGH). It uses an LM393 comparator to convert the analog signal from the photodiode into a clean digital signal.
