Perfect for my DIY air purifier
This sensor module is exactly what I needed for my home automation project. The UART communication is stable, and the readings match my commercial air quality monitor very closely. Easy to integrate with ESP32.

Accurate but needs calibration time
Great little sensor. It takes about 30 seconds to warm up before the readings stabilize, which is normal for laser sensors. Once running, it detects dust changes instantly when I wave my hand near it.

Best sensor in this price range
Upgraded from an infrared sensor to this laser module, and the difference in accuracy is night and day. It handles low concentration environments much better.

Excellent sensitivity
I was surprised by how quickly it picked up particulate matter when I lit a candle nearby. The data output format is well-documented, making parsing simple.

Reliable and compact

Good value for money
Works as advertised. The only minor issue is that the connector pins are a bit close together, so be careful when soldering or plugging in wires. Otherwise, solid performance.
Q: Does this module come with a fan included?
A: Yes, the D7B module includes an internal micro-fan necessary for drawing air through the laser chamber. No external fan is required.
Q: Is this suitable for outdoor weather stations?
A: While the sensor works technically outdoors, it is not waterproof or dust-proof (IP rated). It must be housed in a protective enclosure that allows airflow but shields it from rain and direct debris.
Q: What is the protocol for reading data via UART?
A: The default UART baud rate is 9600 bps. Data is sent as a 9-byte frame every second. Please refer to the datasheet in the download section for the specific byte structure.
Q: How often does the laser need replacement?
A: The laser diode is designed to last over 5 years under normal operating conditions. It is not a user-replaceable part; if it fails after the warranty period, the entire module usually needs replacement.
Q: Can I power this directly from a 3.3V pin on my Arduino?
A: No, this sensor requires a stable 5V power supply. Using 3.3V may result in inaccurate readings or failure to operate. Please ensure your microcontroller can provide sufficient current at 5V.
