Good hardware, software needs updates
The device itself is robust and the recording quality is excellent. However, the bundled management software feels a bit dated. It works fine on Windows 10, but I hope they release a modernized UI soon. Still, it gets the job done.

Perfect for our small office setup

Easy installation and clear audio
I am not very tech-savvy, but I got this up and running in under 15 minutes. The audio quality on the recordings is crystal clear, and the software automatically organizes files by date and caller ID. Highly recommended.

Excellent value for money
Compared to cloud-based subscription services, this one-time purchase saved us hundreds per year. The USB connection makes it portable between computers if needed. Very satisfied with the Zipei brand.

Reliable for multi-line environments
We upgraded to the 4-channel version. It handles concurrent calls without dropping any data. The only minor issue is that the LCD brightness is fixed, which can be a bit bright at night, but functionality is top-notch.

Great SDK for custom integration
Bought this specifically for the secondary development kit. The documentation could be slightly more detailed in English, but the API functions work well for integrating call logs into our internal CRM. Solid hardware build.
Q: Is the SDK compatible with Python or just C++?
A: The included SDK provides libraries primarily for C++ and C#. However, many developers have successfully created Python wrappers to interface with the DLLs provided in the kit for custom applications.
Q: Does this device require an external power adapter?
A: No, the Zipei Recording Box is fully powered via the USB connection to your PC or laptop. No external power brick is required.
Q: Does the pop-up display show the caller's name if available?
A: Yes, if your telephone service provider transmits Caller ID Name (CNAM) data along with the number, the pop-up LCD will display both the name and the phone number.
Q: What happens if the computer goes to sleep while recording?
A: If the host computer enters sleep mode, recording will pause. We recommend adjusting your Windows power settings to 'Never Sleep' while the recording software is active to ensure continuous capture.
Q: Can I use this with a VoIP system or only analog lines?
A: This unit is designed primarily for traditional analog telephone lines (PSTN). For pure VoIP systems, you would typically need a gateway to convert the signal to analog before connecting to this device, or use our specific IP recording solutions.
