Great utility, minor driver hiccup

Once I got the drivers installed correctly on Windows 11, this worked flawlessly. It acts as a perfect telephone secretary by logging every call. I wish the initial setup guide was a bit more detailed for newer OS versions.

Q: Is this compatible with VoIP phones or only traditional landlines?

A: The Zipei Phone Companion is designed specifically for traditional analog landline connections (RJ11). It is not directly compatible with pure VoIP systems unless they are connected through an analog telephone adapter (ATA).

Q: Can I use this with a Mac running macOS Sonoma?

A: Yes, we support macOS, but please ensure you download the latest driver version from our official website, as older versions may not be fully optimized for Sonoma. Installation instructions are provided in the download package.

Q: Does this device record the actual audio of the calls automatically?

A: The hardware facilitates the connection, but audio recording depends on the third-party software you choose to run alongside our driver. The included basic software focuses on Caller ID display and call logging rather than audio capture.

Q: Does the device require an external power outlet?

A: No, the device is bus-powered. It draws all necessary electricity directly from your computer's USB port, so no external power adapter or wall outlet is required.

Q: What happens if I have two landline numbers coming into one jack?

A: This device supports a single line channel. If you have a dual-line service merged into one jack, the device will typically detect the primary line. For distinct management of two separate numbers, you would need two units.
