Great value, slight learning curve

Very good quality for the price. They required a quick dip in warm water to remove the factory coating, but after that, they wrote smoothly. One nib in my pack was slightly misaligned, but the rest were perfect.

These Leonardt EF Principal nibs are fantastic. They have just the right amount of flex for practicing Roundhand without being too scratchy. The ink flow is consistent once you get the hang of loading the pen.

Solid choice for daily practice

Smooth and responsive

The line variation on these is incredible. You can get hairline upstrokes and very bold downstrokes with minimal pressure. They don't snag on the paper texture as much as other pointed nibs I've used.

A: Like most new steel dip pens, these have a protective lacquer coating. We recommend gently washing the nib with warm soapy water or passing the tip through a flame for a second to remove the coating before your first use for optimal ink flow.

Q: What kind of ink works best with these nibs?

A: These nibs work best with fluid calligraphy inks specifically designed for dip pens, such as sumi ink or walnut ink. Avoid using fountain pen ink as it is often too watery and may cause corrosion on the steel.

Q: Can I use these nibs with a standard fountain pen holder?

A: No, these are dip pen nibs and do not have a feed system. They must be inserted into a straight or oblique dip pen holder. They are not compatible with standard fountain pens that use cartridges or converters.
