Great value for the price
For the cost, this mouthpiece punches well above its weight. It took a few days to break in, but now it plays very evenly across all registers. The finish is beautiful too.

Responsive and easy to blow
As a student moving up to an intermediate level, this mouthpiece made high notes much easier to hit. The resistance is just right, not too open and not too closed.

Solid construction
The ebonite feels dense and high quality. My only minor complaint is that the cap fits a bit tightly at first, but it has loosened up slightly with use. Sound is fantastic.

Perfect for jazz and classical
I use this for both gigging and practice. It offers enough edge for jazz solos but remains mellow enough for classical quartets. Very versatile piece of equipment.

Best upgrade I've made
Upgrading my mouthpiece was the best investment for my sound. The Hongbo Explorer delivers a consistent tone that blends well in ensemble settings. Highly recommended.

Incredible warmth and projection
Switched from a metal mouthpiece to this ebonite model and the difference is night and day. The tone is rich and woody without losing any projection. The included ligature holds the reed perfectly secure.
Q: Is this compatible with alto saxophones?
A: No, this specific model is designed for soprano saxophones. Please check our store for the Alto version of the Explorer series.
Q: How do I clean the ebonite material safely?
A: We recommend using lukewarm water and a mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners as they can damage the ebonite finish over time.
Q: Can I use synthetic reeds with this mouthpiece?
A: Yes, the Hongbo Explorer works excellently with both traditional cane reeds and synthetic reeds. Many players enjoy the consistency of synthetics with this chamber design.
Q: What is the return policy if the tip opening feels wrong?
A: We offer a 30-day return window for unused items in original condition. If you have tried it, please contact us directly to discuss exchange options based on availability.
Q: Does this mouthpiece come with a reed?
A: No, the package includes the mouthpiece, an embossed ligature, and a cap, but reeds are sold separately.
