Great quality, slightly pricey
The build quality is excellent and it soldered very cleanly. It's a bit more expensive than generic wire, but the noise reduction is worth it for recording.
Q: Is the shielding grounded at one end or both?
A: The braided shielding is continuous throughout the wire. In typical guitar applications, it is usually grounded at the output jack or the bridge, depending on your specific wiring schematic.
Q: Can I use this to replace the cable running from my guitar to the amp?
A: This product is designed for internal instrument wiring and amplifier construction. For instrument cables (guitar to amp), we recommend our dedicated patch or instrument cable series which features different connectors and strain relief.
Q: Does the solder melt the insulation easily?
A: The PVC insulation has a high heat resistance rating. While standard soldering irons will not melt it instantly, we always recommend using proper soldering techniques and avoiding prolonged heat exposure.
Q: Is this wire suitable for both passive and active pickup installations?
A: Yes, this single-core shielded wire is versatile and works perfectly for wiring both passive and active pickup systems in guitars and basses.
Q: What gauge is the internal conductor?
A: The internal conductor is approximately 22 AWG, which is the standard size for most instrument internal wiring applications.
