Great for carving practice
Bought this as a raw material for a small project. The wood is dense and holds detail well. Only giving 4 stars because it was slightly smaller than I imagined, but still high quality.

Beautiful natural grain
The burl pattern on this gourd is stunning. It feels solid in the hand and has a wonderful earthy scent typical of aged Thuja. Perfect for my collection.

Lovely tactile experience
I use this as a handheld worry stone. The texture of the burl is fascinating to touch, and it fits perfectly in the palm. Very relaxing.

Exceeded expectations
The photos don't do justice to the rich color variations in the wood. It arrived well-packaged and smells amazing. Highly recommend for woodcraft enthusiasts.

Good value for raw wood
Solid piece of timber with interesting character marks. No cracks or defects. It requires some sanding if you want a smooth finish, but that is expected for raw material.

Authentic Wenwan piece
As someone who collects Wenwan ornaments, this is a genuine find. The aging process is evident in the color depth. It will polish up beautifully over time.
Q: Is the gourd hollow or solid?
A: This is a solid piece of root wood carved into the shape of a gourd. It is not hollow like a natural plant gourd.
Q: Can I carve intricate details into this specific type of burl?
A: Yes, aged Thuja burl is prized for carving. However, due to the irregular grain and knots, it requires sharp tools and patience. It is excellent for organic, flowing designs.
Q: Is this piece ready to wear as a pendant immediately?
A: This item is sold as raw wood material. While it has a natural shape, you may need to drill a hole and apply a finish or polish depending on your preference before wearing it as a pendant.
Q: What is the best way to clean this raw wood piece?
A: For raw wood, we recommend gently wiping it with a dry, soft cloth. Avoid using water or chemical cleaners as they can damage the natural fibers and alter the patina.
Q: Does the wood have any artificial coloring?
A: No, the color is entirely natural resulting from the aging process of the Thuja burl. There are no dyes or artificial stains applied.
