Exquisite craftsmanship and detail
The carving on this Zhong Kui statue is absolutely stunning. You can see the grain of the aged cypress wood clearly, and the facial expressions are incredibly lifelike. It feels substantial in the hand and looks perfect on my office desk.

Solid and well-balanced
As a handheld piece, the weight distribution is perfect. It fits comfortably in the palm. The carving depth gives it a great 3D effect that changes as you rotate it in the light.

Great quality, slightly smaller than expected
The detail is fantastic and the wood feels very old and authentic. I just thought it would be a bit larger based on the photos, but the dimensions listed are accurate. Still a great purchase.

Lovely texture and aroma
The wood has a smooth, silky texture from the polishing. There is a faint, earthy aroma typical of aged cypress. One small nick on the base, but not visible when displayed, so I kept it.

Perfect gift for a culture enthusiast
Bought this for my father who loves Chinese folklore. He was thrilled with the depiction of Zhong Kui. The natural finish highlights the unique patterns in the wood beautifully.

Beautiful addition to my collection
I collect Wenwan items, and this piece stands out due to the quality of the wood. The scent of the cypress is subtle and pleasant. It arrived well-packaged in a sturdy gift box.
Q: Is this made from real aged wood or a composite material?
A: This statue is crafted from 100% genuine aged Taihang Cliff Cypress wood. We do not use any composite materials or resins.
Q: What is the significance of Zhong Kui in this context?
A: Zhong Kui is a revered figure in Chinese mythology, traditionally known as a vanquisher of ghosts and evil spirits. Displaying his image is often believed to bring protection and ward off negative energy, making it a popular subject for Wenwan ornaments.
Q: How should I clean and maintain the wood finish?
A: We recommend dusting gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using water or chemical cleaners. Occasionally rubbing with a tiny amount of natural beeswax can help maintain the luster.
Q: Is the carving done by machine or by hand?
A: Each piece is hand-carved by skilled artisans. While the initial rough shaping may utilize tools for efficiency, all fine details, textures, and finishing touches are applied manually, making each piece unique.
Q: Does this come with a stand or display base?
A: The statue is designed to sit flat on its own base or be held in the hand. It does not come with a separate detachable stand, but it includes a velvet pouch and a rigid gift box for storage or display.
