Great for drying
I bought the narrow-waist seeds. They took a while to germinate but eventually thrived. The shells dried beautifully without cracking. Just be patient!

Excellent quality seedlings
Ordered the live seedlings to save time. They were packaged securely with moist roots. Planted them two weeks ago and they are already climbing the trellis.

Good but needs space
The plants are vigorous, maybe too much so! Make sure you have a large trellis. The gourds themselves are cute, but the vines took over my small balcony.
Q: Can these gourds be eaten?
A: No, these specific Wenwan ornamental varieties are bred for decoration and crafting purposes only. They are not intended for consumption.
Q: When is the best time to plant these seeds?
A: You should plant the seeds outdoors after all danger of frost has passed and soil temperatures reach at least 70°F (21°C). In most regions, this is late spring.
Q: Do the seedlings come with pots?
A: The live seedlings are shipped in biodegradable starter cells to protect the roots during transit. You will need to transplant them into larger pots or your garden upon arrival.
Q: Will these grow well in containers?
A: Yes, they can grow in large containers (at least 5 gallons) provided you install a sturdy trellis for the vines to climb. Ensure the container has excellent drainage.
Q: How do I cure the gourds after harvesting?
A: Harvest when the stem turns brown and dry. Wipe the surface clean, then place them in a warm, dry, well-ventilated area out of direct sunlight. Turn them weekly until they feel light and you hear seeds rattling inside.
