Great starter kit with minor tuning needed
Perfect for someone getting into traditional woodworking. The block plane needed a slight flattening of the sole, but once tuned, it works beautifully. The wooden case is a nice touch for organization.

Beautiful craftsmanship
Not only do these work well, but they look stunning in my workshop. The beech wood bodies are smooth and the finish is flawless. My father, a retired carpenter, was very impressed.

Solid tools that feel good in hand
The balance on these planes is fantastic. I've used them for hours without fatigue. The high-carbon steel takes a razor edge easily. Highly recommend for furniture restoration work.

Exceptional quality for the price
I was skeptical about buying a set instead of individual planes, but the quality here is outstanding. The blades came sharp out of the box and held an edge well during my first project smoothing oak table legs.

Good value, heavy duty
These are heavier than some modern composite planes, which I actually prefer for stability. The depth adjustment is precise. Only giving 4 stars because the instructions could be more detailed for beginners.
Q: Do these planes come pre-sharpened or do I need to sharpen them before first use?
A: The blades are factory-sharpened and ready for immediate use on softwoods. For hardwoods or fine finishing, we recommend a quick honing to achieve a mirror edge, which is standard for high-carbon steel tools.
Q: Is the wooden storage case sturdy enough for shipping without damage?
A: Yes, the wooden chest features reinforced corners and internal foam inserts designed specifically to secure each tool during transit. We have a very low rate of shipping damage for this item.
Q: Can replacement blades be purchased separately if one gets damaged?
A: Absolutely. We stock replacement irons for all models included in this set (No. 4, No. 5, and No. 60). You can find them listed individually in our shop under 'Hand Plane Parts'.
Q: Are the handles made of real wood or synthetic material?
A: The handles and knobs are crafted from genuine rosewood and beech wood, providing a traditional feel and excellent grip. They are finished with a protective oil to prevent drying.
Q: What is the difference between the push planes and the block plane in this set?
A: The push planes (No. 4 and No. 5) are designed for two-handed operation to flatten and smooth large surfaces. The block plane is smaller, held in one hand, and is ideal for end-grain work, chamfering, and trimming small areas.
