Holds my entire 4K collection
Finally, a single drive that can hold my whole movie collection. Transfer speeds are solid over USB 3.0. Highly recommend for media hoarders.

Great storage expansion for console
Works flawlessly with my PS4. Loading times are decent, and having 5TB means I don't have to delete games anymore. Only wish the included cable was a bit longer.

Good value for the capacity
You can't beat the price per gigabyte. It's not an SSD, so it's not the fastest thing ever, but for archiving data, it is perfect. No issues after three months of use.

Perfect for backing up my photo library
I needed a reliable drive to store years of family photos and videos. This 5TB Seagate drive is fast, quiet, and the setup was incredibly easy. The encryption feature gives me peace of mind when traveling.

Good drive, software could be better
The hardware itself is great, but the included backup software felt a bit clunky on Windows 11. I ended up using third-party software instead. The drive performance is still excellent though.
Q: What is the actual usable space on a 5TB drive?
A: Due to the difference in measurement standards between manufacturers (decimal) and operating systems (binary), a 5TB drive will typically show approximately 4.54 TB of usable space in your OS.
Q: Can I power this drive using a phone charger?
A: This drive is designed to be bus-powered via the USB connection to a computer or compatible hub. Using a standard phone charger with a USB-A to Micro-B/USB-C adapter is not recommended and may not provide stable power.
Q: Is this drive compatible with macOS Time Machine?
A: Yes, this drive works with Time Machine. You may need to reformat it to APFS or Mac OS Extended (Journaled) using Disk Utility before your first use, as it comes pre-formatted for Windows.
Q: Is this drive shock-resistant for travel?
A: While the drive has a durable casing, it is a mechanical hard drive (HDD) containing moving parts. We recommend handling it with care and avoiding drops or significant impacts while in use or transit.
Q: Does the hardware encryption require a subscription?
A: No, the hardware encryption capability is built into the drive. However, you will need to install the Seagate Secure software (free download) to set up and manage your password protection.
