Perfect for learning
Great educational tool for understanding gas sensors. I do not use it for safety alarms, but for data logging it performs well. Good value for the price.

Needs warmup time

Works great with Arduino

Good sensitivity
The module is sensitive enough to detect gas from a lighter for testing purposes. The potentiometer makes it easy to adjust the digital threshold. Just note it needs power for a while before stabilizing.
Q: Can this detect natural gas or propane?
A: This MQ-7 model is optimized for Carbon Monoxide. For natural gas or propane, we recommend looking at the MQ-5 or MQ-6 models.
Q: What is the current consumption during operation?
A: The heating element typically draws around 150mA. Please ensure your power supply can handle this load during the heating cycle.
Q: Is this certified for use in a residential safety alarm?
A: No, this module is intended for educational and prototyping purposes only. For residential safety, please use certified commercial alarm devices.
Q: How do I adjust the sensitivity threshold?
A: There is a blue potentiometer on the board. Rotate it while exposing the sensor to gas to set the point where the digital output pin switches state.
Q: Does this module require a specific library for Arduino?
A: No specific library is required. You can read the analog pin directly, though many open-source MQ sensor libraries are available to help with calibration.
