Great for learning
Easy to interface with my 8051 kit. Documentation provided was helpful. Fast delivery too.

Perfect for obstacle avoidance
Used this for a small robot project. The analog output makes it easy to read with ADC. Range is consistent within the specified 15cm.

Good sensor, sensitive to light
Works well indoors. Noticed some noise in output when used near bright windows. Shielding helped.

Needs calibration
The voltage curve isn't perfectly linear. You need to map it in software for accurate distance reading.
Q: Is there a digital version available?
A: This model is analog only. We stock digital IR sensors separately if needed.
Q: How do I connect this to an 8051?
A: Connect VCC to 5V, GND to Ground, and OUT to an ADC pin on your microcontroller.
Q: Does it work on black surfaces?
A: IR sensors can struggle with highly absorbent black surfaces. Testing is recommended for your specific application.
Q: What is the sampling rate?
A: You can read the analog value as fast as your ADC allows, but the sensor response time is around 40ms.
Q: Can I use this with 3.3V logic?
A: The sensor requires 5V power, but the output can be read by 3.3V ADCs with a voltage divider.
