Worth every penny for serious collectors
I have been collecting Chinese cash coins for twenty years, and this is the most comprehensive English-language guide I have encountered. The identification keys for copper alloys are particularly useful for spotting modern reproductions.

Great historical context
Beyond just identifying coins, the historical introductions to each dynasty provide fascinating context about the economy and politics of the time. It adds a lot of depth to the hobby. Would give 5 stars if it included more price guides, but I understand market fluctuations make that difficult.

The definitive guide for Song Dynasty coins
This book is an absolute treasure trove. The section on Song Dynasty calligraphy variants is incredibly detailed and helped me identify several pieces in my own collection that I previously thought were common. The images are crisp and the grading standards are clearly explained.

Excellent resource, heavy book
The content is top-notch and very scholarly without being unreadable. My only minor complaint is the weight; it's quite heavy to hold while examining coins at a desk. However, the information on the Five Dynasties period is hard to find elsewhere.
