Beautiful tone and finish
I was surprised by how rich the sound is from a solid top at this price range. The gloss finish looks professional and feels smooth. It stays in tune very well even after hours of playing. A fantastic instrument for students and intermediates.

Great value, minor setup needed
The build quality is excellent for the price point. The wood grain on the meranti back is quite attractive. I did have to adjust the truss rod slightly upon arrival, but once set up, it plays beautifully. Very satisfied with the purchase.

Yamaha reliability as always
This is my third Yamaha classical guitar over the years. They are consistently well-made and durable. The CG122MC has a balanced sound across all strings, making it great for both fingerstyle and strumming practice.

Solid choice for the money
Good projection and sustain. The neck profile is comfortable for extended practice sessions. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the included strings were a bit stiff, but swapping them out solved that immediately.

Perfect starter classical guitar
I bought this for my daughter who is just starting lessons. The solid spruce top gives it a warm tone that sounds much more expensive than it is. The action is low enough for small hands but high enough to avoid buzzing. Highly recommended for beginners.

Exceeded expectations
Bought this as a travel guitar, but it has become my main practice instrument. The lightweight body is easy to hold, and the sound quality rivals guitars twice the price. Yamaha really nailed the design on this model.
Q: What is the difference between the MC and MS models?
A: The 'MC' designation typically refers to a natural matte or gloss finish depending on the specific year, while 'MS' often indicates a sunburst finish. The core tonewoods and construction remain the same.
Q: Can I install a pickup on this guitar later?
A: Yes, since this is an acoustic model without built-in electronics, you can easily have an aftermarket soundhole pickup or under-saddle transducer installed by a qualified technician.
Q: Are the strings nylon or steel?
A: This is a classical guitar, so it comes strung with nylon strings. Please do not use steel strings on this instrument as the tension could damage the neck and bridge.
Q: Does this guitar come with a gig bag or case?
A: No, the Yamaha CG122MC is sold as the guitar only. We recommend purchasing a separate classical guitar gig bag or hard case for protection during transport.
Q: Is the nut width suitable for someone with larger hands?
