Great content, thin paper
The instructional diagrams are excellent and very clear. My only critique is that the paper is quite thin, so if you use wet ink, it might bleed through slightly. Best used with dry brushes or light ink applications.

Excellent stroke control practice
As someone transitioning from Western sketching to Chinese painting, the focus on stroke control in the first volume was exactly what I needed. The landscape section in volume three is particularly detailed.

Wonderful family activity

Good value for six books
You get a lot of material for the price. The instructions are clear enough even if you don't read Chinese, as the visual guides are strong. Would have given 5 stars if the binding was a bit sturdier.

Best self-study guide available
I tried several other workbooks, but this series breaks down the Gongbi technique better than any other. The house and architectural drawings in the later volumes are surprisingly fun to trace.
