Best folk shape I've played
The FS body size is comfortable for long practice sessions without sacrificing volume. The mahogany back gives it a warm, woody character that cuts through a mix nicely.

Stunning aesthetics and sound
The gloss finish looks premium and the wood grain is gorgeous. Sound is balanced across all strings. Only wish it came with a hard case included instead of a gig bag.

Great guitar, minor setup needed
Beautiful instrument with rich bass response. The action was slightly high out of the box, but a quick truss rod adjustment fixed it. Now it plays like a dream.

Exceptional tone for the price
The solid spruce top really opens up after a few weeks of playing. The resonance is incredible compared to laminate guitars I've owned before. Highly recommended for fingerstyle players.

Perfect stage companion
I bought the FSX5 model for live performances. The SRT2 pickup system sounds natural through the PA, requiring very little EQ adjustment. Build quality is flawless.
Q: Does this guitar come with a hard case or a gig bag?
A: The Yamaha Red Label FG3/FS3 series typically ships with a high-quality padded gig bag. A hard case can be purchased separately from our accessories section.
Q: How long does it take for the solid wood top to 'open up'?
A: While subjective, many players notice the tone improving significantly after 20-50 hours of play time. The solid Sitka spruce top will continue to mature and resonate more freely over months and years of regular playing.
Q: Are the X models (FGX/FSX) suitable for recording directly into an interface?
A: Yes, the FGX and FSX models are equipped with the Yamaha SRT2 pickup system, which is designed specifically to capture the natural acoustic tone for direct recording or live amplification without feedback issues.
Q: Is the neck profile suitable for players with smaller hands?
A: The nut width is 43mm, which is standard for most acoustic guitars. The C-shaped neck profile is generally comfortable for various hand sizes, but we recommend trying one in store if possible to ensure the best fit for your playing style.
