Better than modern plastic machines
Finally, a machine made of metal! It doesn't jump or skip stitches like my previous plastic model. The foot pedal gives great control over speed. Highly recommended for heavy fabrics.

Great value for a heavy-duty sewer
Used this to repair canvas tents and upholstery. The motor is powerful enough to punch through thick material without straining. The black head design is iconic and charming.

Sturdy but requires some setup
The machine itself is a tank and sews very smoothly. Assembly of the wooden table took about an hour, and the instructions could be clearer. Once set up, it performs flawlessly.

Perfect gift for my wife
My wife has wanted a traditional sewing machine for years. This Butterfly brand exceeded our expectations. The wooden cabinet is solid, and the cloth stand is very convenient.

Lovely machine, slightly noisy
It sews beautifully and the stitch quality is consistent. It is a bit louder than expected when running at high speed, but that is typical for this style of mechanical machine.
Q: Can this machine sew through leather?
A: Yes, this heavy-duty model is designed to handle thick materials including leather, canvas, and multiple layers of denim up to 6mm thickness.
Q: Can I use it without electricity?
A: While this specific listing includes an electric motor, the machine head retains the handwheel and can be operated manually via the foot pedal mechanism if disconnected from power, though the electric motor is recommended for consistent speed.
Q: Is the table pre-assembled?
A: No, the wooden table board and frame require assembly. All necessary hardware and tools are included in the package, and the process typically takes 45-60 minutes.
Q: Does it come with a warranty?
A: Yes, all new Shanghai Butterfly sewing machines include a 1-year manufacturer warranty covering motor and mechanical defects.
Q: What type of needles does this use?
A: This machine uses standard domestic flat-shank needles (System 130/705 H), which are widely available at most fabric stores.
