Struggles with dark objects
Works great on white or light-colored surfaces, but struggles to detect black matte objects even at close range. Expected behavior for IR sensors, but worth noting.

Easy to wire and use
As a beginner, I found the three-pin layout very easy to understand. VCC, GND, and OUT. The LEDs make debugging super simple.

Perfect for my Arduino robot
This sensor works flawlessly with my 5V Arduino setup. The detection range is adjustable and very stable. I used it for obstacle avoidance and it reacts instantly.

Solid performance for automation
Using these in a conveyor belt counting system. They have been running 24/7 for two weeks without failure. Response time is quick enough for moderate speeds.

Good value but needs calibration
Works well once you spend time tuning the potentiometer. Out of the box, it was a bit sensitive, but after adjustment, it detects objects consistently up to 60cm.

Reliable NPN output
Exactly what I needed for my PLC interface. The NPN output sinks current correctly, and the build quality feels solid for the price point.
Q: Is the detection range fixed or adjustable?
A: The detection range is fully adjustable from approximately 3cm up to 80cm using the multi-turn potentiometer located on the back of the module.
Q: Can I connect multiple sensors to one analog pin?
A: This sensor provides a digital output (High/Low). If you need to connect multiple sensors, each should be connected to a separate digital input pin on your microcontroller unless you use a multiplexer.
Q: Does sunlight interfere with the sensor's operation?
A: Strong direct sunlight contains infrared radiation that can interfere with the sensor. For outdoor use, we recommend adding a shading tube or housing to block ambient light from hitting the receiver directly.
Q: Can this sensor operate directly with a 3.3V microcontroller?
A: This module is designed for 5V operation. While the output signal might be readable by a 3.3V logic pin, we recommend using a voltage regulator or level shifter for stable 5V power supply to ensure accurate detection range.
Q: What is the maximum current this sensor can switch?
A: The NPN output transistor can typically sink up to 100mA. However, for driving heavy loads like motors or bright lamps, we strongly suggest using an external relay or MOSFET driver circuit.
