Beautiful craftsmanship
I was impressed by the finish and the smoothness of the ebony pegs. They hold tuning very well even after long practice sessions. A worthy upgrade from my student model.

Perfect for my conservatory audition
The tone quality on this Dunhuang Pipa is exceptional. The ironwood body provides a deep, resonant sound that projects well in large halls. I used this for my final exam and received high praise from the judges.

Solid choice for advancing players
Good volume and sustain. The case provided is sturdy and protects the instrument well during travel. Only giving 4 stars because shipping took a bit longer than expected, but the product itself is 5 stars.

My favorite instrument yet
The rosewood back adds such warmth to the timbre. It responds beautifully to both soft plucking and aggressive strumming techniques. Very happy with this purchase.

Professional grade at a reasonable price
I have played on much more expensive instruments that did not sound as clear as this 561 model. The balance between the bass and treble strings is excellent for traditional repertoire.

Great sound, needs minor setup
The instrument sounds fantastic once set up correctly. The action was slightly high out of the box, but after a quick adjustment by my teacher, it plays like a dream. Highly recommended for serious students.
Q: Are the strings pre-installed, and what gauge are they?
A: Yes, the instrument comes pre-strung with standard professional-grade steel strings suitable for immediate play.
Q: Does this model come with a hard case or a soft gig bag?
A: This Dunhuang 561/560M model comes with a sturdy hard case to ensure maximum protection during transport and storage.
Q: How do I care for the ironwood and rosewood body?
A: We recommend wiping the instrument with a dry, soft cloth after each use to remove oils. Avoid exposing the wood to extreme humidity changes or direct sunlight.
Q: Is this pipa suitable for a beginner who wants to grow into it?
A: While it is an intermediate/professional model, a dedicated beginner can certainly use it. However, due to the higher tension and responsiveness, it is best suited for students who have mastered basic techniques.
Q: What is the difference between the 560M and the 561 model?
A: The primary difference lies in the decorative inlays and slight variations in the headstock carving. Acoustically, they share the same solid body construction and tonal characteristics.
