Good value, slightly bulky box

Solid performer

Q: Can this be used outdoors without additional protection?

A: While the operating temperature range is wide (-40°C to +85°C), the ABS module itself is not waterproof. For outdoor use, it must be installed inside a weatherproof enclosure or splice closure to protect against moisture and dust.

Q: Is this splitter compatible with APC connectors?

A: This specific model features SC/UPC connectors. While it can physically mate with APC connectors, it is not recommended as it may cause high return loss and potential damage. We recommend using matching UPC components for optimal performance.

Q: Does the 1x2 split result in exactly 50% power to each port?

A: Ideally, yes. However, there is a slight tolerance. Our spec sheet lists a uniformity of ≤0.2dB, meaning the split is very close to 50:50 but may vary slightly due to manufacturing tolerances inherent in FBT technology.

Q: What is the maximum power handling capacity?

A: This fused biconical taper splitter is designed for standard telecom signal levels. It can typically handle up to 500mW of optical power, which is sufficient for most FTTH and CATV applications.

Q: Are the pigtails pre-terminated on both ends?

A: No, this is a branching device. It has one input pigtail and two output pigtails, all terminated with SC connectors. You will need to splice or connect these to your existing fiber infrastructure.
