Excellent upgrade from plastic
If you are still using the mouthpiece that came with your rental instrument, buy this immediately. The difference in sound warmth and projection is night and day.

Smooth and consistent
I bought this as a backup for my main mouthpiece, but I find myself using it more often. The intonation is very stable, and the high notes speak easily without squeaking.

Reliable and durable
I have dropped this once accidentally, and thanks to the ebonite material, it didn't crack or chip. Plays beautifully every time. Highly recommend for students.

Good for classical playing
Produces a warm, rounded tone suitable for concert band and orchestra. Not quite as bright as some jazz mouthpieces, but that is exactly what I needed for my ensemble.

Great value ebonite option
Solid construction and good response across all registers. It took a day or two to break in, but now it plays smoothly. Slightly darker tone than I expected, which I like.

Perfect for my first year student
My daughter just started learning the clarinet, and her teacher recommended this mouthpiece. It makes a huge difference in tone quality compared to the stock plastic one. Very easy to control.
Q: Is this suitable for a Buffet Crampon E11 clarinet?
A: Absolutely. This mouthpiece is designed for standard Bb clarinets and fits perfectly on models like the Buffet Crampon E11, Yamaha YCL-255, and others.
Q: How do I clean the ebonite material safely?
A: Use a soft swab with lukewarm water after each use. Avoid harsh chemicals or alcohol-based cleaners, as they can dry out the ebonite over time.
Q: What reed strength works best with this model?
A: Most users find that reed strengths between 2.5 and 3.0 work best with the KMC-716, depending on your embouchure strength and playing style.
Q: Does this mouthpiece come with a ligature?
A: Yes, the KUNO KMC-716 includes a standard metal ligature and a protective cap in the box.
Q: Can this be used for jazz improvisation?
A: While designed primarily for classical and beginner use, many players successfully use it for light jazz. However, dedicated jazz mouthpieces usually have larger tip openings for more brightness.
