Perfect for absolute beginners
I had never touched a bamboo flute before buying this book. The simplified notation is so much easier to read than standard staff lines. The accompanying audio tracks are clear and help me keep the right tempo.

Good value for money
For the price, you get a lot of content. The paper quality is decent, and the binding holds up well even with daily use. The numbered notation took a day to get used to, but now I prefer it.

Great song selection
The collection of 100 songs covers everything from folk tunes to modern pop hits. My only minor complaint is that I wish there were more duet options included, but overall it's a fantastic resource.

Helped me reconnect with my heritage
I bought this to learn songs my grandmother used to play. The book explains the cultural context of several folk songs which added a nice touch. The accompaniment sounds authentic.

Audio access is a game changer
Being able to download the backing tracks made practicing alone feel like playing in a band. The instructions on breathing techniques at the beginning of the book were very helpful too.
Q: Do I need to know how to read standard musical staff notation to use this book?
A: Not at all. This book uses Simplified Numbered Notation (Jianpu), which represents notes with numbers (1-7). It is specifically designed for beginners who do not read traditional sheet music.
Q: Is this book suitable for a C-key bamboo flute?
A: While the book focuses primarily on the most common D and G key flutes, the numbered notation system is transposable. However, for the best experience with the provided backing tracks, we recommend using a D or G key flute.
Q: How do I access the accompaniment tracks mentioned in the description?
A: Inside the front cover, you will find a unique QR code and a URL. Simply scan the code or visit the link, enter your book ID, and you can stream or download all 100 MP3 backing tracks instantly.
Q: Are the lyrics included for the 100 songs?
A: Yes, for vocal pieces, the original lyrics are included below the notation in both English translation and the original language where applicable, so you can sing along while playing.
Q: Does the book cover advanced fingering techniques like flutter tonguing?
A: This book focuses on foundational skills and popular song repertoire. While it introduces basic ornamentation, advanced extended techniques are covered in our 'Mastering the Bamboo Flute' volume, intended for intermediate to advanced players.
