Standard for weathering
A staple in my workshop. I use this not just for panel lines but also for subtle shading around vents and mechanical details. Highly recommended.

Best in class
I have tried other brands, but Tamiya's consistency is unmatched. The capillary action pulls the pigment right into the grooves effortlessly.

Tricky for beginners
It took me a few tries to get the hang of it. I accidentally smeared some on the flat surface, but luckily it cleaned off with enamel thinner. Practice makes perfect.

Great product but needs gloss coat first
Works wonderfully if you apply a gloss topcoat beforehand. Without it, the wash can stain matte surfaces. Just follow the instructions and you will get great results.

Good value for money
The bottle lasts a long time since you only need a tiny amount per kit. The black shade is deep and realistic for military and sci-fi models alike.
Q: Does this come with a brush?
A: Yes, the bottle includes a fine built-in brush specifically designed for applying the wash directly into panel lines.
Q: How long does it take to dry?
A: Typically, it dries to the touch within 15-30 minutes depending on humidity and thickness of application, but waiting an hour before wiping excess is safer.
Q: Can I use this on matte finished models directly?
A: It is highly recommended to apply a gloss clear coat before using this product to prevent staining the matte finish. You can matte coat it again after the wash is dry.
Q: What thinner should I use for cleanup?
A: You should use Tamiya Enamel Thinner (X-20) or any standard enamel thinner for cleaning up excess wash or mistakes.
Q: Is this safe for polycarbonate parts?
A: No, this is an enamel-based product and should not be used on polycarbonate parts as it may cause cracking. It is designed for ABS and PS plastic parts.
