Good for dust, not for oil
This pen is fantastic for removing loose dust particles. However, it did not remove an oily fingerprint I accidentally left on the sensor filter. For oil, you still need a liquid cleaning solution. But for general maintenance, it's great.

Works well, requires a steady hand
The product does exactly what it claims. It removed the smudge on my CMOS sensor effectively. I took off one star only because you really need to be careful not to touch the sides of the sensor chamber. Practice on a cheap lens cap first!

Essential tool for mirrorless cameras

Better than wet swabs
I used to rely on wet cleaning swabs which always made me nervous about residue. This dry carbon method is much safer and faster for light dust. One gentle sweep and my photos are crisp again. Great value for the price.

Compact and effective
Fits perfectly in my camera bag pocket. I take this on every photography trip. It saved me during a desert shoot when sand got into my camera body. The light gray color makes it easy to spot if I drop it on the ground.
Q: Is this safe to use on a full-frame Sony Alpha sensor?
A: Yes, the SK-1A is designed to be safe for all CCD and CMOS sensors, including full-frame models from Sony, Canon, Nikon, and other major brands.
Q: What is the shelf life of the carbon tip if unopened?
A: The carbon tip does not expire if kept in its protective cap and stored in a cool, dry place. It remains effective for years before first use.
Q: How many times can I use the pen before it needs replacing?
A: Under normal usage conditions, a single LensPen can perform hundreds of cleanings. You should replace it if the tip becomes visibly contaminated or loses its effectiveness.
Q: Can this clean the inside of the viewfinder as well?
A: This specific model (SK-1A) is shaped specifically for sensor cleaning. For viewfinders or lenses, we recommend our standard LensPen models with larger tips.
Q: Do I need to apply any liquid solution to the tip?
A: No, never add liquid to this pen. It utilizes a specialized dry carbon compound embedded in the tip to lift dust and oils statically.
