Perfect for hand-rolling collections
These seeds produced gourds with the exact waist shape I was looking for. The symmetry is incredible, making them ideal for my hand-rolling set. Highly recommend for serious collectors.

Good but requires patience
The seeds are viable, but growing them to the perfect 'slim waist' shape requires precise pruning and training. Not necessarily beginner-friendly, but the results are worth the effort.

Great growth, unique shapes
Germination was successful for most seeds. The resulting gourds have very distinct 'nipple' shapes at the bottom. One plant grew slightly larger than expected, but overall a great harvest.

Authentic traditional variety
Finally found authentic Eight Treasures seeds that match the description. The fat-waist variety turned out beautifully smooth after polishing. A must-have for enthusiasts.

Excellent quality seeds
I've tried many varieties, but these Tiantan seeds are superior. The walls of the gourds are thick enough for carving yet light enough for rolling. Will buy again next season.

Nice addition to my garden
Even if you don't use them for rolling, these make fascinating bonsai subjects. The fruit shape is quirky and fun. Lost one seedling to pests, but the rest thrived.
Q: How long does it take for these seeds to germinate?
A: Under optimal warm and moist conditions, germination typically occurs within 7 to 14 days.
Q: What is the best time of year to plant these seeds?
A: It is best to plant after the last frost when soil temperatures consistently stay above 65°F (18°C), usually in late spring.
Q: Are these seeds hybrid or open-pollinated?
A: These are traditional open-pollinated varieties, allowing you to save seeds from your harvest for the next growing season if isolated from other gourd types.
Q: Can these be grown in pots or do they need ground soil?
A: They can be successfully grown in large pots (at least 5 gallons) provided they have adequate support structures for climbing and sufficient sunlight.
Q: Do the gourds need special treatment before hand-rolling?
A: Yes, after harvesting and drying, the outer skin should be gently scraped and polished over several weeks to achieve the smooth finish required for rolling.
