Authentic Shouguang variety
I've grown gourds before, and these definitely look like the traditional small-waisted wine gourd variety. The hand-rolled description seems to refer to the careful handling of the seedlings. Very satisfied.

Good quality, fast growth
The plants grew very quickly after acclimatization. One leaf was slightly damaged during shipping, but the plant recovered within two days. Great potential for a high yield.

Thriving in containers
I was worried about growing vines in pots, but these are doing amazing. Just make sure you have a sturdy support structure. The leaves are vibrant green and pest-free so far.

Needs lots of water
The plants are healthy, but they dry out very quickly in the summer heat. I have to water them twice a day. If you forget, they wilt immediately. Otherwise, good product.

Great for beginners
As someone new to gardening, these seedlings were forgiving and easy to manage. The instructions provided were clear. Can't wait to harvest my own gourds for decoration.

Perfect for my balcony garden!
These seedlings arrived healthy and robust. I planted them in large pots on my south-facing balcony, and they are already climbing the trellis I built. Excited to see the gourds form.
Q: Are these seeds or live plants?
A: This listing is for live, hand-rolled seedlings that are ready to be transplanted into your final container or garden bed upon arrival.
Q: Do I need to pollinate them by hand?
A: If grown on an open balcony or outdoors, bees usually handle pollination. For enclosed balconies, we recommend gentle hand-pollination to ensure fruit set.
Q: Can these really grow well in a standard balcony pot?
A: Yes, provided the pot is at least 5 gallons with good drainage. Ensure you install a vertical trellis or cage early to support the vining habit.
Q: What is the maximum size of the gourd?
A: The 'Large Wine' variety typically grows to about 20-30 cm in length with a distinct narrow waist, perfect for drying and crafting once mature.
Q: How long does it take to see the first flowers?
A: Under optimal conditions with full sun and regular watering, you can expect to see the first male flowers within 30-40 days after transplanting the seedling.
