Reliable sensor for automatic lights
I used this to build an automatic night light for my workshop. It triggers consistently at dusk and turns off at dawn. Very reliable component.

Okay product, pinout diagram unclear
The module works fine, but the printed pinout on the board was a bit hard to read. I had to look up the datasheet online to confirm VCC and GND positions.

Perfect for Arduino Projects

Good sensitivity, needs calibration
The sensor is quite sensitive to light changes. You need to spend a minute calibrating the potentiometer to get the exact threshold you want, but once set, it stays stable.
Q: How do I increase the sensitivity to light?
A: Turn the onboard potentiometer clockwise to increase sensitivity. Use a small screwdriver and test under your target lighting conditions while adjusting.
Q: Can this detect direct sunlight?
A: Yes, the photodiode is sensitive enough to detect direct sunlight. You will need to adjust the potentiometer to prevent saturation in very bright conditions.
Q: Is this compatible with Raspberry Pi GPIO?
A: Yes, it is compatible. Since the output is 3.3V TTL compatible, you can connect it directly to the Raspberry Pi GPIO pins safely.
Q: Does this provide an analog output signal?
A: This specific model provides a digital switching output (TTL). If you require analog voltage readings proportional to light intensity, please check our analog photodiode variants.
Q: What is the maximum voltage this module can handle?
