Exceptional Tone and Balance
These hammers produce a incredibly clear and resonant tone on my yangqin. The ebony heads are perfectly rounded, and the weight distribution feels natural in the hand.

Authentic Tian Style
As someone who has studied the Tian school of playing, these hammers are authentic to the style. They allow for excellent dynamic control and subtle tonal variations.

High quality but requires break-in
The craftsmanship is superb. The ebony is very hard, so it took a few days of playing to get used to the attack, but now the sound is exactly what I was looking for.

Beautiful finish
The polish on the bamboo handles is smooth and elegant. The sound is bright and projecting. I deducted one star only because shipping took slightly longer than expected.

Love the included case
Not only are the hammers fantastic, but the free bamboo case is beautifully made and protects the tips well when traveling to rehearsals. Highly recommended.

Great upgrade from student hammers
I noticed an immediate improvement in my articulation after switching to these Tian-style hammers. The aged bamboo handle provides a comfortable grip that doesn't slip during fast passages.
Q: Does the bamboo case fit other brands of hammers?
A: The case is custom-molded for Tian-Style hammers. While other similar-sized hammers might fit, we cannot guarantee a snug fit for significantly different shapes or sizes.
Q: What is the difference between ebony-headed and regular wooden hammers?
A: Ebony is denser and harder than most woods, producing a brighter, more penetrating tone with clearer articulation, which is preferred for solo performances and complex repertoire.
Q: Are these hammers suitable for a beginner student?
A: While beginners can use them, these are professional-grade hammers designed for advanced players. Beginners might find the ebony head harder than standard felt or softer wood hammers.
Q: Can I purchase replacement heads if they wear down?
A: Currently, we sell the hammers as a complete pair. The ebony heads are highly durable and rarely need replacement under normal playing conditions.
Q: How do I care for the ebony heads to prevent cracking?
A: Avoid exposing the hammers to extreme temperature changes or direct sunlight. Store them in the provided bamboo case when not in use to maintain stable humidity levels.
