Exceeded expectations

I bought this to restore an old wooden box. The vertical Konghou motif fits perfectly. Once sealed with lacquer, it is indistinguishable from real carved mother-of-pearl. Highly recommended for DIY projects.

Q: Is the 'mother-of-pearl' effect actual shell or a printed simulation?

A: It is a high-quality printed simulation on a specialized shell film base. It mimics the iridescence and depth of real inlay without the fragility or cost of genuine shell crafting.

Q: Can this decal be applied to a curved surface like a Pipa body?

A: Yes, the shell film is flexible enough for gentle curves. For complex compound curves, we recommend cutting the decal into smaller sections or using a heat gun gently to help it conform.

Q: What is the size of the sheet included in the package?

A: The standard sheet size is approximately 21cm x 30cm (A4 size), which provides enough material for multiple small props or one large focal point on a wardrobe or instrument.

Q: Can I remove the decal if I make a mistake during application?

A: Once the decal is fully dried and sealed, it is permanent. If you make a mistake while it is still wet, you can gently slide it off. After drying but before sealing, removal may damage the print.

Q: Do I need special glue to apply these water transfer decals?

A: No special glue is needed. The decal activates with water. However, we strongly recommend applying a clear sealant or lacquer over the decal after it dries to protect the design and enhance the mother-of-pearl shine.
