Best investment for home developing
I switched from a stainless steel tank to this plastic one and I love it. It uses less chemistry and is much lighter to carry. The agitation is smooth and consistent.

Solid build, great value
Very sturdy construction. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is that the funnel cap can be a bit tight to screw on initially, but it loosens up with use. Chemicals stay secure.

Reliable and leak-proof
Used this for C-41 color processing which requires precise temperature control. The tank holds heat well and the light trap is excellent. No fogging on any of my negatives.

Great for 120 film
Loading 120 film is a breeze with the self-loading mechanism. Takes a little practice to get the leader in right, but once you do, it's very fast. Highly recommend.

Perfect for beginners and pros alike
This tank is incredibly easy to load even in a changing bag. The dual-core reels handle both 35mm and 120 film without any fuss. I've processed over 50 rolls with zero leaks.
Q: What is the minimum amount of developer required for one roll of 35mm?
A: For a single roll of 35mm film, you typically need approximately 300ml of developer solution to ensure the film is fully submerged.
Q: Is the plastic material resistant to common photographic chemicals?
A: Absolutely. The tank is made from high-impact polystyrene designed to resist corrosion and staining from standard black and white and color developing chemicals.
Q: Does this tank come with reels for both 35mm and 120 film?
A: Yes, the Paterson 1520 kit includes dual-core reels that are adjustable to accommodate both 135 (35mm) and 120 medium format film.
Q: Can I use a rod stirrer with this specific model?
A: Yes, the lid of the Paterson 1520 features a central hole specifically designed to accept a Paterson stirring rod for alternative agitation methods.
Q: How do I clean the tank after using color chemicals?
A: Rinse thoroughly with warm water immediately after use. For stubborn stains, a mild dilute bleach solution can be used, followed by a comprehensive water rinse before drying.
