Great quality, needs breaking in
Excellent brush overall. It felt a bit stiff at first but after washing and using it a few times, the tips became perfectly aligned. Highly recommend for the price.

Perfect for beginners and pros alike

Beautiful craftsmanship
The bamboo handle feels sturdy and comfortable in the hand. The goat hair absorbs a generous amount of ink, allowing for long, continuous strokes without reloading.

Good value for money
For a pure goat hair brush, the price is very reasonable. It performs almost as well as my expensive vintage brushes. Lost one star because the ferrule was slightly loose upon arrival.

My go-to brush for large characters
I primarily use this for Seal script on rice paper. The tip snaps back beautifully after each press, making it easy to control thick and thin lines.
Q: Is this brush suitable for water-only practice on magic water cloth?
A: Yes, this pure goat hair brush works excellently with water on magic water cloths. The soft hair absorbs water well and shows clear strokes that fade as they dry.
Q: What is the difference between this and a wolf hair brush?
A: Goat hair is softer and holds more ink, making it ideal for fluid, expressive scripts like Running and Cursive. Wolf hair is stiffer and better for precise, sharp lines in Regular script.
Q: How should I clean the brush after using solid ink sticks?
A: Gently rinse the bristles under lukewarm running water until the water runs clear. Reshape the tip with your fingers and hang the brush upside down to air dry completely.
Q: Can this brush be used for Sumi-e painting as well?
A: Absolutely. While designed for calligraphy, the soft goat hair is also fantastic for Sumi-e painting, especially for rendering flowers, leaves, and washes.
Q: Does the handle come pre-lacquered or is it raw bamboo?
