Very small but usable
It is quite tiny, so don't expect to make a large project. However, for the price, it's a fair deal for practicing basic techniques.

Good practice material
The gourd is smaller than I expected from the photo, but it works perfectly for etching drills. The surface texture is authentic and holds ink well.

Perfect for beginners!
I bought this specifically to practice my wood burning skills without wasting expensive blanks. The natural flaws actually make it more interesting to work on. Great value.

Great for pyrography tests
I use these to test new burner tips before working on final projects. The density is consistent enough to get a good feel for the tool settings.

Exactly as described
Love that they don't hide the flaws. It teaches you how to work around natural imperfections, which is a crucial skill in gourd art. Will buy again.

Cute little piece
Nice size for holding in one hand while carving. The shape is a bit odd, but that's part of the charm of natural gourds. Good for testing tips.
Q: What is the approximate wall thickness?
A: The wall thickness varies due to the natural growth process, but it is generally medium thickness, making it suitable for both shallow etching and deeper carving practice.
Q: Are these gourds cleaned and ready to use immediately?
A: Yes, the gourds are dried and cleaned, but they retain their natural outer skin and flaws. They are ready for carving or burning right out of the package.
Q: Is the inside hollowed out?
A: No, these are sold as solid practice pieces with the seeds and pulp still inside. You would need to cut and clean them yourself if you require a hollow vessel.
Q: Can I paint over the natural flaws?
A: Absolutely! Many artists prime and paint over the natural markings, or incorporate them into the design. The surface accepts acrylics and sealants well.
Q: Do all gourds look exactly like the photo?
A: No, since these are natural products with intentional flaws, each piece is unique. The item you receive will vary in shape and scar pattern from the photo.
