Beautiful unique shapes!
I planted these seeds in late spring and was amazed by the germination rate. The vines grew vigorously, and the gourds developed into fascinating shapes perfect for my collection. Highly recommend for anyone interested in ornamental gardening.

Excellent germination rate
Out of 20 seeds, 18 sprouted successfully. That is an incredible success rate. The plants are healthy and the flowers are lovely white blooms that attract bees. A great ornamental and functional plant.

Great for large pots
These seeds thrived in my extra-large container on the balcony. The only reason for 4 stars is that they need a very sturdy trellis as the vines get heavy with fruit. Otherwise, a wonderful addition to my urban garden.

Impressive size
The description says 'Extra Large' and it wasn't kidding. My largest gourd is already huge. Just make sure you have enough space for them to sprawl. Very happy with the purchase overall.

Easy to grow for beginners
As someone new to growing vines, I found these very forgiving. They bounced back quickly after a heavy rainstorm. The hand-rolled aspect seems to ensure good quality control on the seeds provided.

Perfect for drying and crafting
I bought these specifically to dry out and paint later. The 'Eight Treasures' variety produces such interesting contours. The seeds were fresh and sprouted within a week. Can't wait to see the final dried results.
Q: Are the gourds edible when young?
A: Some varieties of Lagenaria are edible when very young and tender, but this specific 'Eight Treasures' ornamental variety is primarily bred for its shape and durability for crafting. We recommend using them for decoration only.
Q: Do these seeds need to be soaked before planting?
A: Yes, soaking the seeds in warm water for 12-24 hours before planting can help soften the seed coat and improve germination speed.
Q: What kind of support structure do you recommend?
A: Due to the 'Extra Large' size of the mature fruit, we recommend a heavy-duty wooden trellis, a strong fence, or an arbor capable of supporting significant weight without bending.
Q: Can these be grown indoors or do they need outdoors?
A: While you can start them indoors in pots, they are vigorous climbers that produce large fruits, so they perform best when moved outdoors or grown in a greenhouse with ample vertical space.
Q: How long does it take for the gourds to be ready for harvest?
A: Typically, it takes about 90 to 120 days from planting to harvest. You will know they are ready when the vine starts to dry out and the gourd skin becomes hard.
